9/2/24 Democracy Frontlines Depend on Local News

Scot Nakagawa

The September 2 edition of Radioactive Magazine on KKFI FM features an interview of Scot Nakagawa, Director of the 22nd Century Initiative, by Spencer Graves. The front-lines of democracy are in every community including local news, school boards, city/county officials, sheriffs, and local elections.

The show aired a discussion with Scot Nakagawa, who is a Senior Partner at Change Lab, an organizer, activist, cultural worker and political writer. Nakagawa’s primary work has been in the fight against vigilante white supremacist groups, Nativism, and authoritarian evangelical political movements. Scot formed ChangeLab, and also served as Field Director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, and Associate Director of the Western Prison Project.

The 22nd Century Initiatives’ mission is to create an effective, multi-racial, cross-class, and culturally diverse mobilization against authoritarianism and to invest in infrastructure necessary to foster inclusive and people-centered democracy in this century and the next.
